The city of Orland is in the middle of putting strict regulations on adult-oriented businesses within city limits.
That includes establishments like adult book stores, sex shops, and strip clubs.
It all started a few months ago, when a local businessman asked city officials what kind of permit he would need to go about having a cabaret show at a nightclub.
The city's planning commission has since made strict recommendations for city council.
The proposed changes leave all but one piece of land along County Road 200 that could potentially be used for these kinds of businesses.
“It happens to be the only spot that is 1,500 feet from churches, or schools, or parks within our whole city limits,” said Orland City Manager Pete Carr. “But here it is, it's available, and this is where somebody could exercise that right…”
The issue will be brought up again at the May 19th city council meeting, where there will be time for public input.
