Oregon Sex Offender Arrested in Shasta County

An Oregon man is arrested following an investigation that revealed he was in a sexual relationship with a minor. Shasta County Sheriff's deputies learned that Daniel Degroat, 28, had been living in the Fall River Mills area and failed to register as a sex offender. He was arrested around 5 p.m. last night at the Rocky Ledge Shell station in Johnson Park and taken in for questioning. Degroat admitted to having a relationship with a minor and was booked into Shasta County jail on an Oregon parole warrant. Deputies say additional charges pertaining to the unlawful sex acts with a minor will follow at the conclusion of the investigation. No other details regarding the relationship are being released at this time.
