On May 16, 2014, 69-year-old Massachusetts resident Francis Gregory was shot and killed on the Iron Canyon Trail in Tehama County, and his friend seriously injured and left for dead.

One year later, Sheriff's Detectives are asking for help in finding the suspect, renewing a public request that was made just after the shooting.

Investigators have released an update on the suspect.

A new sketch shows a week's worth of stubble instead of a beard, as previously believed.

The rest of the description hasn't changed: white male adult, six feet tall, between the ages of 35 and 40, thin build, short black hair, and wearing dark denim pants and a dark shirt.

Authorities believe that sometime between 11:30 and noon, he robbed the victims before shooting them both and leaving them in a remote area, about 100 yards from the trail head.

The Tehama County Secret Witness Program is offering an award for the arrest and prosecution of the suspect.

You're asked to give them a call at (530) 529-1268 with any information.
