One dead after attempted robbery, shooting in Anderson

One man is dead following a shooting last night in Anderson.

The incident unfortunately happened around 6:45 Sunday night.

Officers with the Anderson Police Department and deputies with the Shasta County Sheriff's Office responded to the 7-11 store located on North Street where they found a white male adult with an apparent gunshot wound to his torso.

The victim was transported to mercy hospital for treatment, but later died from his injuries.

Officials on scene at 7-11 say the shooting actually occurred 3 miles away on the 6700 block of Peach Lane in the Churn Creek Bottom area.

Deputies contacted several subjects at that location who reported a possible robbery at a nearby residence.

Detectives are following up on information, trying to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting.

Several involved parties, witnesses and a believed shooter are being interviewed.
