Shasta County Sheriff Records show 51-year-old John Paul Bass was arrested Monday on charges of murder, suspicion of making a controlled substance, possession of marijuana for sale, carrying a loaded firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm. His bail is set at $1.5 million. Sheriff's officials have not released any information regarding the arrest.

48-year-old Milton Roy Sherwood Jr. was dropped off at Mercy Medical Center in a wheelchair by two men last Friday. When medical personnel came out to assist the two men fled on foot.
