SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The oldest survivor of the Great San Francisco Earthquake of 1906 has died.

Ruth Newman was 5 years old when the quake struck the early morning of April 18, 1906.

Her daughter, Beverly Dobbs, says her mother died on July 29 in her home in Pebble Beach, California. She was 113.

Dobbs says Newman remembered her father picking her up and running out of their house in Healdsburg as the ground shook.

Dobbs says her mother was a strong-willed woman who lived a full, long, beautiful life.

Her death leaves only one known earthquake survivor still living. William Del Monte, 109, was 3-months-old when the earthquake hit, said Lee Housekeeper, an organizer of the quake's commemoration events.
