Nuts fall 8-1 to Hawaii in American Legion World Series

The Chico Nuts suffered an 8-1 loss to Hawaii on Saturday, August 16th, at the American Legion World Series in Shelby, North Carolina.

With the loss Chico drops to 0-2 in pool play and has no chance of securing a spot in the semifinals.

Chico does however have one more pool play game, a 10 a.m. contest Sunday against Tennessee.

Against Hawaii, Ian Melton led the way, going 3-4 with a walk. Luke Correia was 2 of 4, as was Greg Darms.

Chico's starting pitcher, Ryan Dufort, fired seven innings, giving up six runs, three earned on nine hits with nine strikeouts.
