SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - A 21-year-old Notre Dame student who was to graduate this weekend has died after falling from the roof of the school's sports arena.
The South Bend Tribune reports that the school said in a news release that a group of students climbed up on the roof of the Joyce Center early Saturday morning.
The release says the roof was wet and one of the students fell. Two students told a campus security police lieutenant they needed help about 3:45 a.m. Saturday.
The school says the student, whose name has not been released, was unresponsive and taken to a local hospital, where the student died.
Notre Dame President the Rev. John Jenkins said "it is a profound sadness ... to lose someone so young and brimming with promise."
