As the Valley Fire continues to rage, thousands are being forced to evacuate... but what happens to the pets and livestock left beyond the fire lines?

Chico's North Valley Animal Disaster Group is providing aid for animal evacuations in the Valley Fire. In addition to evacuations, the team of 7 volunteers conducted welfare checks and provided food and water to those who were able to shelter in place.

The group stresses the importance of having an evacuation plan for both you and your pets in the event of an emergency.

The North Valley Animal Disaster Group has international recognition. They've aided in disasters like Hurricane Katrina and the Nepal Earthquakes.

The group operates on donations only. They invite you to be a part of their FUNdraiser. "Pets and Jets" is this Saturday at the Chico Air Museum. You can buy tickets at the North Valley Animal Disaster Group Website.
