There are a number of ceremonies and events taking place around the Northstate on Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11th.
The 16th annual Veterans Day Parade starts at 11 a.m. on Montgomery Street in Downtown Oroville. The theme this year is "Remember the Missing. It is sponsored by the Oroville Exchange Club, the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Oroville to honor our Veterans, past and present.
In Paradise, a 10 a.m. Veterans Day service is scheduled at the Paradise Veterans Hall. Former VFW Commander of Post 1555, James Crow, will be the Keynote Speaker. The program will conclude with a rifle salute and "Taps".
A Veterans Day Parade will take place in Corning starting at 10:30 a.m., from City Hall to the Veteran's Memorial Hall, where a short program will follow. Afterward Lunch will be served from 12 - 1:30 p.m. for $6 per person.
In Chico the Community Band will play starting at 10:30, at the Chico Elk's Lodge. The Veterans Day Program begins at 11 a.m. featuring Key Note Speaker Dan Roach, and Army combat veteran in the Vietnam War. A free lunch of franks and beans will be provided afterward.
The Oroville Community Concert Band and Chorus will deliver a musical tribute to veterans and those currently serving in the military at 7 p.m. in the Gridley Veterans MemorialHall on Sycamore Street.
And don't forget the 3rd Annual Veterans Day Plant Giveaway by the Veterans Garden Project. It happens from 9 - 12 p.m., at the Humboldt Community Garden, at the corner of Humboldt Road and El Monte Avenue.
