Preparations for what could be a major storm this weekend are underway around the North State.

In Paradise, town officials are urging residents to clear their own pipes and gutters and are offering up a limited amount of free sandbags at the corner of Sierra Park Drive and Pearson Road, or at town hall.

Town of Paradise Public Works Manager Michael Houdek said he expects some localized flooding, especially in places where drainage inlets are plugged. Houdek said crews are on the streets working as fast and as hard as they can to clean out all the drainage issues in preparation for the storm.

Sandbags in Tehama County are available at the Red Bluff Library at 645 Madison Street, the Los Molinos Yard at 8715 Fox Street, the Gerber Yard at 9830 San Benito Ave. and the Corning Fire Station on 5th Street.

North State residents are being urged to use caution on the roads over the next few days, especially on Friday when the weather is expected to be at its worst.
