North State gas prices continue to slide

Gas prices in the North State are continuing to fall, with the average price of a gallon of gas in Chico down another 10 cents from last week.

With the most recent drop in prices, the average cost of a gallon of gas in Chico is $2.33. This compares with the national average that has fallen nearly 6 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.05 a gallon.

Including the most recent price drop in Chico, prices Monday were 114 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 31 cents lower than just a month ago.

It's not all good news though, gas price analysts say the price slide may be coming to an abrupt end. "The light at the end of the tunnel is dimming as gasoline prices have nearly caught up with the drop in crude oil prices," said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst with
