An Orland dairy farmer is celebrating today after finding out one of his cheese products received a prestigious award in London this past weekend.
Paul Schmidt who makes cheese and sells it locally, owns one of the smallest dairies in California, with only 25 cows. Just a few days ago he learned his "Fromage Blanc" received a gold award from the World Cheese Awards in London.
Schmidt said he's happy that so many people have been able to appreciate his product. "My favorite thing is seeing a customer taste it and go oh my gosh this is amazing...the look on their face that's really exciting to me" Schmidt said.
Schmidt says the Fromage Blanc is a great substitute for yogurt, sour cream and cream cheese.
