North State motorcyclists are gearing up for the annual motor-icicle run, which is now less than two weeks away.
On Saturday January 17 at 9 a.m., motorcyclists will meet at the Orland Fire Department for a pancake breakfast before they head out on a ride through Glenn County to honor Orland's fallen military heroes.
Event Chairman Bob Paseo says "most people, even our long time Orland residents, don't realize that nearly 70 Orland patriots have died during a time of war or conflict since Orland incorporated in 1909. That is a lot of sacrifice for a town of this size and we don't have a permanent memorial to honor those heroes and commemorate their sacrifices."
Riders are encouraged to get pledges from family or friends, the money pledged will help fund the memorial.
Riders will leave from the fire department at 11 a.m. and cruise through downtown and then head out for a 100 mile ride along the Sacramento River, up to the foothills by Elk Creek and Chrome then back down to Black Butte Lake. Riders will end back at the fire department around 2 p.m.
