A North Carolina couple has been charged after four children tested positive for meth, police said Wednesday.

Kimberly Lowery, 29, and Nathan Vallini, 27, of Nebo, were each charged with four misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, the McDowell County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

Detective Lynn Green said the four children were aged between 4 and 12.

An investigation began last month after a relative of one of the children filed a complaint about possible drug use in the home, according to the McDowell County Sheriff's Office.
