SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (AP) - The California Highway Patrol says a freeway crash involving about 10 vehicles left nine people injured and blocked all lanes of a San Francisco Bay Area freeway.

The CHP says the fiery crash began with a big-rig at about 3 a.m. Monday on Interstate 880 near Marina Boulevard in San Leandro.

The crash spread across both lanes and crushed much of the concrete divider between them.

Nine people were taken to hospitals, but their conditions were not immediately clear.

Most lanes were still closed as the Monday morning commute began.
