LOS ANGELES (AP) - Newly released video shows officers in suburban Los Angeles fatally shooting an unarmed man after he lowered his hands in a questioning manner.
Several dash-cam videos of the shooting in Gardena, California, were released Tuesday.
A judge found that the public should be able to see what led the city to pay $4.7 million to settle a lawsuit with the family of the man killed and another man wounded in the shooting.
The Associated Press, the Los Angeles Times and Bloomberg successfully fought for the videos' release.
The videos show an apparently confused Ricardo Diaz-Zeferino at first following police orders to raise his arms. But at one point he takes off his hat and then starts to put his arms out in a questioning matter. That's when police open fire.
