United Way of Northern California has launched a new website dedicated to pairing volunteers with local organizations here in the North State.
Volunteernorcal.org is a free tool that can be used by any non-profit agency in local counties.
So far, about 20 organizations have partnered with the website, including the City of Redding and the Sacramento River Discovery Center.
Christopher Adams, a former United Way volunteer, credits the opportunity with helping to build some much-needed career skills.
"I was able to build some of my interpersonal communication skills. I was able to do more phone interviews, which is actually an important part of the job I was able to get recently," he said.
