The city of Chico will be making some changes to the downtown area in the upcoming weeks. Every year, the city identifies sidewalk areas that need fixing in order to make it safer for pedestrians. Beginning next Monday, United Building Contractors will be removing four Yarwood Sycamore trees and planting new Crimson Sunset Maple trees. Over the years, the sycamore trees have caused many sidewalks in downtown Chico to raise, and they're also damaging underground pipes. The contractors will also be repairing eight sidewalks, and vehicle traffic will not be affected during construction.
