New Mandatory Evacuations for Trinity County Residents

UPDATE 6:50 P.M.

Mandatory evacuations has been requested by U.S. Forest Service and ordered by the Trinity County Sheriff’s Department for residences in the area of Denny and anyone using Denny Road to leave the area. Forest officials say that due to the amount of fire activity they will not have resources available to conduct future structure protection.

Mandatory evacuation for residents living on Castle Rock have been requested by US Forest Service and ordered by the Trinity county Sheriff’s Department for residence in the area of Underwood Mountain Rd., Castle Rock and Hog Ranch including 5N40 road, 5N 07 Road, Big Lake, Hidden Lake to 5 N 60 Road to Mill Creek Road.

The South Complex fire is currently at 11,000 acres with no containment.

The Fork Complex fire is current 25,313 acres, with five percent containment.


Firefighters are splitting up their resources to fight numerous of wildfires burning in Trinity County.

The Interagency Incident Management Team 4 has assumed command of the Fork Complex fire in unified command with CalFire. The Northern California Interagency IMT 2 will focus on the South Complex fire.

The Fork Complex includes Hayfork, Rail, Peak, Cold, and Barker wildfires burning near the town of Hayfork.

Firefighters working on the South Complex will focus on the Pattison, Castle, Kerlin, and Pelletreau wildfires burning in the Hyampom area.

The U.S. Forest Service say fire crews have made good progress on the Fork Complex fire, it’s currently at 25,313 acres, five percent contained.

Officials say structures continue to be threatened by some of the fires burning in the area. Crews are working today to put containment lines in front of the Pelletreau fire as it is moving towards Wintoon Flat.

Mandatory evacuations remain in place for the following areas:

Hayfork area-

  • Residence at Trinity Pines
  • Residences in the area of Barker Creek Road
  • Mill Gulch to Gulch Road on Highway 3, just north of Hayfork
  • Kingsbury Gulch Road in the area of Morgan Hill Road from Pine Street to Kingsbury Gulch Road, including Kingsbury Road, Center Street and Dirt Road.

Hyampom Area-

  • Skunk Ranch area
  • Manzanita Ranch area
  • End of Kerlin Creek Road
  • Corral Bottom area from the intersection of Road 16 and Road 47, Road 47 to Road 60 into Hyampom.
  • Underwood Mountain Road and Forest Road 4N09

Road closures are still in effect for the Hyampom area, in case of evacuation, these routes will be accessible at the intersection of Road 47 and Road 60; also intersection of Road 16 and Road 47.

In Hayfork, Highway 3 at Fairgrounds south on Highway 3 to Highway 36. Highway 36 at Wildwood Road and all roads with residences listed above.

An evacuation center has been set up at Solid Rock Christian Church located on 66 Tule Creek Rd., in Hayfork. The Salvation Army is offering meals and water to residents in need.

A public meeting will be held tonight at the Hayfork Community Church located at 7450 Highway 3, in Hayfork starting at 7:00 p.m.
