The big day is here.

Expect long lines at Apple stores Friday for the launch of the new iPhone that goes on sale.

Apple is banking on long lines of customers for the debut of the iPhone 5S and 5C.

The new models were launched in Tokyo Thursday to a waiting crowd of about 800 people armed with Apple co-founder Steve Jobs memorabilia.

The company sold a record five million smartphones during last year's iPhone debut.

Apple store outlets open their doors at eight a.m., with the online store offering the new phones just after noon.
