Enloe Medical Center will open a small playground area across the street from the hospital on the Esplanade campus Tuesday, November 12. The playground equipment was donated by the Chico Rotary Club. The director of the Enloe Foundation, Jolene Francis, said the hospital is looking forward to hearing the sounds of happy children as they play on the structure. Visiting patients in the hospital or from the neighborhood are welcome. The playground area represents the first phase of the park construction, which itself is the final phase of the Enloe Century Project expansion. The expansion has included a parking structure, which opened in 2008; a new 191,000-square-foot patient tower, which opened in 2012; and an expanded emergency department, under construction.
