While several local businesses are fighting to keep from closing, one new restaurant in downtown Chico is opening its doors for the very first time. Grana just opened its doors Tuesday, and already owners say they've seen a good response from the Chico community.
The new wood fired foods restaurant, located next to North Rim on 2nd street in downtown Chico, opened its doors earlier this week. The idea for the Italian wood burning oven eatery, began two-years ago, as a unique idea for Chico. The restaurant serves everything from pizza and salad to cheese plates and a variety of wines.
Owner Jeff King says their location across from the farmers market is the perfect venue for what he calls a good 'food culture' and community restaurant. King says, "For a community like Chico, it's important to take what we have here, these local great seasonally fresh ingredients, bring them over here, put them together in a minimal prep, and go from there."}
King says he hopes to expand on the amount of local food served in the restaurant. Grana will be open seven days a week.. Sunday through Friday from 11 a-m to 10 p-m. and Saturday from 9 a-m to 10 p-m.
