Apr 29, 2014 6:34 PM

We now know the identities of the Oroville Police Officers who shot and killed a knife-weilding suspect yesterday, as well as the suspect.

The incident began yesterday afternoon around 4pm. Three Oroville Police Officers responded to the Sunset Inn on Feather River Boulevard after receiving a call from the suspect's wife that he was suicidal.

Officers arrived to find 53-year-old Victor Coleman of Bakersfield barricaded inside his motel room, threatening to kill himself.

Police tried to get him to come out, but he refused.
Coleman told the officer doing negotiations on the phone, that he was on methamphetamine and starting to hallucinate and that he was going to do himself in.

That's when the officers stormed the room and Coleman came out of the bathroom carrying a knife. Officers Jared Cooley, John Nickelson and Marcus Tennigkeit all opened fire.

Coleman died at the scene. He was staying in Oroville while working on a construction project in Biggs.

The three officers are on paid administrative leave while the incident is investigated.
