With Spring just around the corner, what better way to welcome the season by making a garden?
That's just what volunteers with the Butte Environmental Council did Saturday.
They worked on a new community garden, at the "Oak Way" Park in Chico.
The new garden will have universal access and include 28 different plots. Organizers say there are still plots available for the public.
Stephanie Elliott is with the "GRUB" Education Project, " This garden being connected with Oak Way Park is just going to marry in a beautiful area for folks to come."
Chico High Teacher Dennis Schultz agrees, "What we do here will conjunction right in our class room and we work on independent living skills so a lot of what we raise here will go into our cooking programs."
So far, they've raised 25-hundred dollars for the project, and the goal is to raise at least 25-hundred more.
