ZEPHYR COVE, Nev. (AP) - Nevada Republican Sen. Dean Heller is hosting a two-state summit on environmental issues surrounding Lake Tahoe.
The 19th Annual Lake Tahoe Summit on Monday features California Gov. Jerry Brown and Sen. Dianne Feinstein, as well as Nevada Rep. Mark Amodei and Lt. Gov. Mark Hutchison.
Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval is not attending because he's meeting with President Barack Obama in Las Vegas. The two are expected to discuss a potential endangered species listing of the sage grouse.
The summit theme is Connecting Lake Tahoe's Environment and Economy Through Innovation and Transportation.
Other agenda topics include a plan to curb wildfires and keep invasive species out of the lake.
The event has been held every year since 1997, when President Bill Clinton ordered federal agencies to coordinate to protect the lake.
