Cyber security experts from around the north state were in Chico Saturday for the first ever NorCon computer security convention.

The convention brought in more than 100 hacking enthusiasts to share tips and gain knowledge on strengthening cyber security.

NorCon organizers say it is important for security experts to continually learn the vulnerabilities of different systems.

“I'm very excited for the NorCon conference,” Salem Hoffman, one of the event’s organizers, said. “It will focus more on the computer security, how you can break security and more importantly how you can make it better. The community is all about sharing knowledge and helping out to make the community bigger and stronger.”

Nor con was organized by local hacker group DC530.

The event was held at the Idea Fab Lab on Orange Street and also featured a lock picking and brewing demonstration.
