The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a winter storm warning from Thursday night until early Sunday morning.
National Weather Service analysts warned of the possibility of funnel clouds throughout the storm. Residents are advised to be aware of the possibility of funnel clouds and tornados in the North State.
The service also warned that the storm would bring one to two-feet of snow to areas above 5000-feet elevation; approximately half-an-inch to two inches of rain to the valleys; approximately one-and-a-half to three inches of rain to the foothills.
Winds will be blowing around 20-35 miles-per-hour with higher wind gusts near the Sierra Crest.
The service warned that chain controls will be in effect and cautioned motorists of travel hazards due to slick roads, especially over Sierra passes.
They also warned residents in those areas of possible power outages due to downed power lines and trees due to high winds and heavy rains.
