The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado did touch down in Tehama County just before 7pm Thursday evening. Reports from spotters placed the twister 2 miles to the South East of Red Bluff. Eye witness reports also confirmed heavy precipitation and hail from the same system that enabled the tornado to form. Officials from the National Weather Service are still working to pinpoint just how strong the twister was, but initial reports rate the event as an EF0, the weakest of tornado classes. Wind speed estimates for the event are between 65 and 85 miles per hour. The tornado lasted for 2 minutes, but reports of damage have been minimal since the twister touched down in a field.
