A government shutdown means all national parks would lose funding and be forced to close starting Tuesday morning.
Locally, Lassen Volcanic National Park is one of the many parks on the chopping block.
So far, it’s a gloom outlook for this popular North State attraction. Locals say the park’s closure would create an economic impact which would be very difficult to recover from.
“I feel people would just spend less time in the area,” said Lassen Mineral Lodge manager Brandy Glenn. “They would maybe just stop for the day where some people stay three or four days enjoying the park.”
The national parks are expected to find out their fate around midnight.
