National Night Out is the evening of Tuesday, August 4th and communities across the country and here in the North State will be marking the occasion.
The goal of the event is to heighten awareness of crime and drug prevention, by meeting with your neighbors and area law enforcement.
In addition to several neighborhood events, there is a community wide celebration planned for the Downtown Chico City Plaza from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. The Chico Police Department is hosting the event, which will feature food, games,demonstrations, displays, an archery booth, dunk tank and bike rodeo.
Oroville Police Department Volunteers are holding a community gathering in Sank Park next to the Lott home on Montgomery Street. There will be food vendors and music, service clubs, and police officers and firefighters. The Oroville celebration starts at 4 p.m and ends at 9 p.m.
And in Orland, you'll find the National Night Out event at Library Park, with music, a jump house, children's activities, food and a raffle. That celebration starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m..
