FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Federal officials have launched a new website to help the nation's next generation of farmers.

U.S. Agriculture Deputy Secretary Krysta Harden announced the website and other measures to help young farmers and ranchers during a visit to the University of California, Davis on Monday.

Harden says the average age of the country's farmers is 58 and rising. If America wants to maintain its strong agricultural economy, she says the country must help those now entering the business.

The website Harden unveiled includes links about accessing land and capital and managing risk.

Harden says young farmers have access to federal programs that can help them recoup much of the cost of any livestock and bees lost to disaster and weather other financial hardships.
