(UPDATE) 5:44 p.m.- NBC Affiliate KCRA has reported that family members have identified the victims as Richard Jones, Jr.,17, Roland Lowe,15 and Colleen Lowe, 46.
Investigators in the case have not vet positively identified the remains that were found in a burnt car along Skyway north of Magalia last Thursday.
72-year-old Donald Clark was officially arraigned on three counts of murder and one count of arson Friday afternoon, but did not enter a plea.
He is due back in court Tuesday to continue his arraignment.
According to Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey, the 17-year-old victim apparently stayed at Clark’s residence during prior summers, but had a falling out with the 72-year-old last year after Clark accused the 17-year-old of stealing.
"The indication was Mr. Clark did not want him back on the property," Ramsey said.
Despite this, the 17-year-old reportedly came up with a 15-year-old friend as well as the friend’s mother.
Prosecutors say Clark shot the victims with a 12-guage shotgun, as they arrived on the afternoon of June 12th.
The 72-year-old then allegedly loaded the trio in the back of the stolen Acura they drove to the property and set it on fire on the Skyway near Hupp-Coutelanc Road.
Ramsey say Clark then rode his bike 7.5 miles back home and began working to further cover up his crime.
Investigators reportedly found the shotgun used in the crime along with other evidence at a storage facility in the Chico Area.
