The Sacramento Valley Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations wants state and federal authorities to investigate a fire at the Fusion Hookah Lounge in Chico as a hate crime.

A video posted to the Action News Now Facebook page shows the fire burning, and the woman who posted it said she and other witnesses saw two men throw something out of pickup truck towards the Fusion Hookah Lounge on Walnut Street.

Witnesses say the two men responsible were "yelling derogatory comments and making gestures".

The owners of the lounge say they've previously had threatening comments directed at them. Chico police say this police report is the only recorded harassment complaint the department has ever received from the business owners. Police also said when the complaint was filed, no mention of race was made.
