The Veteran's Garden project of Chico that helps veterans and their famillies will get a financial boost from a benefit concert Friday, March 27th, featuring two great bands.

It takes place from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. at The Tackle Box, 379 East Park Avenue. "Dylan's Dharma" will play. It's a nine piece band with Michael Cannon of "The Pub Scouts" and Jimmy Fay of "Spark n' Cinder" ... and several members are the sons of Spark n' Cinder members. Also performing is "Big Red Holler".

The Veterans Garden Project is located in the BEC Community Garden at Humboldt and El Monte Roads. It has 22 raised beds, and veterans are encouraged to come "play in the dirt", and nuture their minds and bodies with fresh air, fresh food and the garden community.

There is a $5 cover charge for Fridays event, and there will be a raffle.

You can also donate to the Veteran's Garden Project through the North Valley Community Foundation at

The non-profit is a new sponsor of "The Diamond Backs" Little League Team with Chico Central Little League. It's also offering a "Get out of the House" program with Dr. Cory and Ray Pursley every Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the garden.

And there are free plant giveaways for veterans scheduled for Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
