The Valene L. Smith Museum of Anthropology at Chico State is receiving a prestigious award for it's Museum in the Classroom program.
The museum has been selected for one of six 2016 Excellence in Museum Education awards by the Office of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
The Museum in the Classroom program challenges sixth graders at Hooker Oak Elementary School to design an all-school museum exhibition ... based on their History and Social Studies.
The students then become "docents" to younger students.
The program was designed by the Valene Smith Museum's Education Curator, Adrienne Scott and Hooker Oak Teacher Denise Findlay.
The Valene L. Smith Museum of Anthropology is located in the Meriam Library Complex on the Chico State Campus.
