LANCASTER, Calif. (AP) - A Palmdale man who led police on a high-speed pursuit that resulted in the death of a 2-year-old girl has been convicted of murder.
A Los Angeles Superior Court jury deliberated for about three hours Friday before finding Marvin Travon Hicks guilty.
Authorities say Hicks was under the influence of alcohol and drugs on Dec. 6, 2012, when he drove more than 100 miles per hour through rush-hour traffic.
He ran five red lights before crashing into a car carrying 2-year-old Madison Faye Ruano and her mother. Madison was killed and her mother was badly hurt.
In April another jury convicted Hicks, 47, of vehicular manslaughter and other charges. That jury deadlocked on the murder count.
He faces 21 years to life in prison when he is sentenced Oct. 10.
