Munjar Fire fully contained north of Chico

A grass fire is now fully contained that was burning in north Chico Friday afternoon.

The Munjar Fire started about 2:30 Friday afternoon just south of Munjar Road, near Meridian Road. The wind quickly carried the flames.

An air tanker, helicopter and a bulldozer were immediately assigned to the fire.

The fire has charred about 50 acres of almond orchard and pasture land. No structures are threatened.

It was reportedly started by a man dismantling a trailer with a chop saw..

The fire is about 80% contained.
