Multiple fires forcing evacuations in Trinity County

Fires have prompted the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office to order mandatory evacuations for some residents in the Hayfork and Hyampom areas.

United States Forest Service Officials say more than 200 lightning strikes have sparked at least 60 fires in the Shasta Trinity Forest, the largest of which is the Happy Fire, burning 500 acres near Denny. An advisory evacuation has been issued for the town of Denny.

The 150 acre Fork Complex Fire has prompted mandatory evacuations for the end of Kerlin Creek Road, 3N44 & 3N50, in Hyampom.

Cal Fire is also battling a blaze in Trinity County, and officials say the Barker Fire has now burned 120 acres since it broke out around 12:30 p.m. The sheriff’s office has ordered mandatory for Barker Creek Road.

The Red Cross is setting up an evacuation center at Solid Rock Christian Church, 66 Tule Creek Road in Hayfork.

In Mad River, mandatory evacuations have been ordered from Hobart Road to Highway 36, and an evacuation center is being set up at Lamb Creek Church at the corner of Highway 3 and Highway 36.
