Friday turned out to be sunny and very warm over the North State! This weekend looks nice as well. Enjoy it... big changes are coming next week.
Sunny, breezy and very warm over the North State today! Valley highs reached the middle 70's, thanks to strong high pressure and a breezy north wind. While winds overnight will be gusty near the Feather River Canyon on the Ridge (the Jarbo Gap winds), Valley winds have diminished and will stay quiet through the weekend. Temperatures will remain mild through Monday.
A cold storm will blast into the North State on Tuesday. While rain totals look unimpressive for the Valley (perhaps 1/10"... not much), the cold air from this storm is very impressive. Snow levels will start near 4000' on Tuesday, but drop to near 3000' by the afternoon, then down to near 2000' by Wednesday morning! Travelers driving over the mountains Wednesday to go see family & friends for Thanksgiving will have to deal with snowy conditions. Again, there won't be much rain or snow from this storm... but what snow does fall in the mountains will fall at low elevations.
Skies clear Wednesday night, and it will get COLD for Thanksgiving morning! Runners for the Turkey Trot in Redding or the Run For Food in Chico will need to bundle up! As will the Black Friday bargain hunters camping out Thursday night... Friday morning looks cold as well!
