Just before 9:45 a.m. a motorcycle collided with a pickup truck in Oroville, injuring the motorcyclist.

The accident happened on Garden Drive at the Highway 70 off-ramp and the road was closed for more than an hour.

The motorcyclist has been identified as Geoffrey Simmons, 56, from Magalia and the truck driver is Ronald Graves, 75, from Oroville.

Police said the driver of the pickup was leaving the freeway, did not see a stop sign and hit the Harley Davidson as it was coming over the overpass at about 25-30 mph.

Graves was uninjured and at this time it is unknown if he will be cited for running the stop sign. The CHP said in accidents like this, citations are not issued until a thorough investigation has been conducted.

Police said Simmons suffered major injuries and was transported to Enloe Medical Center, but he is expected to live.
