It was a windy day in the Valley, with thunderstorms in the mountains. Look for more of the same tomorrow before a nice weekend comes our way!
Low pressure approaching us today sparked thunderstorms in the mountains this afternoon, which will subside this evening. As low pressure moves right over us tomorrow, look for more of the same... scattered afternoon mountain thunderstorms. We'll see one more round Friday afternoon in the higher elevations.
We shouldn't see any of those drift into the Valley, because the gusty north winds which we saw today have really dried out the atmosphere here. Afternoon humidities in the Valley on Wednesday were between 5% and 10% (very dry!), so that effectively destroys any kind of incoming thunderstorm. As the north winds descend into the Valley, that dries the air out very quickly. Expect more gusty north winds Thursday, which will diminish Thursday night.
As the low moves east Friday, we'll begin to warm up. Look for nice weather this weekend around the North State, but cooling back down again somewhat next week as another weak storm approaches us. It doesn't look like it will move over us, but it will be close... Close enough to cool us down next week yet again.
