Sunny, hot, and dry conditions are lingering in your Thursday forecast, but the strong winds from yesterday have died down. Temperatures are starting off in the low to mid 60's for the valley this morning, and are projected to climb into the 97 to 102 degree range this afternoon. Mountain areas are starting out a bit warmer than yesterday, with most areas in the low to mid 40's. Afternoon high temperatures will climb into the mid 80's to high 90's for the mountains.
Humidity values will continue to be extremely low today, with some areas falling into the single digits Thursday afternoon. North winds have been pushing smoke from the Gulch fire (in Shasta County) into the valley this morning, but diminishing wind speeds will help to clear out the lower elevations later today. Fire danger is remaining high today, but will not be as elevated as yesterday's.
The hot temperatures continue into your extended forecast, with a slight drop on the way for Sunday. Slightly cooler temperatures will return to the region next week. I hope everyone finds a good way to beat the heat, and has a great Thursday!
