APOPKA, Fla. - Authorities say a central Florida mother is accused of leaving her two young children alone in her car while she drank in a nearby bar.

The incident happened Sunday afternoon at Froggers Grill & Bar in Apopka.

The Orlando Sentinel reports 35-year-old April Renee King faces child neglect charges after leaving her children - ages 2 and 4 - alone in the car.

CBS affiliate WKMG reports bystanders were alerted to the situation after one of the children hit the vehicle's horn. According to the station, witnesses said the car was running, the windows were up and the children had been left there for more than 20 minutes.

Police say King had red, glassy eyes and slurred speech when she was located. A police report indicates King had one drink in the bar, but also admitted to being on the prescription drug Prozac.

According to WESH-TV, police say that during their interaction with King, she shut off her vehicle and then turned it back on. The vehicle was reportedly equipped with an interlock device which requires the driver to blow into a breathalyzer in order to start the vehicle. When the vehicle began to sound, King's 4-year-old son could be seen blowing into the breathalyzer device, according to a police report obtained by the station.

WKMG reports King was released last month from an alcohol rehabilitation facility after being in treatment for 54 days.

King was taken into custody and remained in the Orange County Jail on Tuesday. Jail records didn't list an attorney for her.

Her children, who were not injured, were placed in the custody of a friend, according to WKMG.
