Siskiyou Sheriffs reported Tuesday that a woman they were searching for since Saturday was found dead in Happy Camp.
Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team were called in to find Gloria Bravo, 66, in the remote West Branch camp area of Happy Camp around 2 p.m. Saturday. The reporting party said Bravo had been missing since Jan. 13 and was last seen near the Happy Camp post office.
Investigators said there was no sign of criminal activity and Bravo was discovered quite a distance away from her vehicle, which was found locked on the day she went missing. The case remains under investigation.
Sheriff Jon Lopey said his team was saddened by the unfortunate discovery but commended them for their efforts.
“It is always a tragedy when we do not find a missing person alive,” he said. “I would like to thank the dedicated members of our Search and Rescue team, allied agencies, local citizens, and other departmental members involved with the search operation conducted in Ms. Bravo’s behalf.”
Anyone with information about the disappearance is encouraged to call the Siskiyou County Sheriffs at 530-841-2900
