An Alameda man who went missing on a hunting trip in southern Trinity County was found safe Thursday night.
David Hoie returned to his hunting camp around 7:15 p.m.
A deputy responded to the camp and confirmed that Hoie was safe, and found him to be in good spirits. Hoie, who had last been seen around 10:30 p.m. on South Ridge Mountain Road near Cold Springs in southern Trinity County, told the deputy was unable to hike out of his hunting spot until Thursday morning.
He told deputies he saw several planes in the area, but had no clue they were searching for him. Hoie assumed that the plane was there scouting the fire that was still burning in the area.
