CATO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A Michigan man has been shot and killed by a state trooper after the man struck an officer with a crossbow.
A Michigan State Police news release says the trooper, a Montcalm County Sheriff's Department deputy and a Lakeview officer were serving an arrest warrant Friday at the Cato Township home of a 40-year-old man.
Authorities say the man shot at the officers with a crossbow and hit the deputy.
The state trooper then shot at the man, striking him at least once. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the deputy was taken to the hospital and is stable. It did not say where he was hit.
The state police said the shooting is being investigated.
Cato Township is about 50 miles northeast of Grand Rapids.
