A Willits woman is facing arson and other charges after authorities say she barricaded herself inside a burning building with a handgun.
Mendocino County prosecutors charged 31-year-old Lacee Ross on Monday, three days after Willits police say they came across a second floor residential fire and discovered Ross with a handgun in the business below.
A nearly hour-long standoff ensued. According to the Press Democrat of Santa Rosa, fire crews were forced to pull back before Ross was taken into custody.
Police did not disclose a motive. Ross, of Willits, was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday. The District Attorney's Office did not know whether she had an attorney.
The Press Democrat reports that the fire destroyed two businesses and damaged a pre-school.
