Chico State announced today a public service will be held Monday, September 2 for the young woman who was struck and killed by a tree limb on campus Tuesday.

The service will be held at 1 p.m. at Bidwell Chapel on 341 W. Third St. in Chico. The university encourages those who wish to pay their respects in private to come to the chapel at noon.

Notes and cards can be dropped off to the EOP or Upward Bound office and will be picked up by the family.

Just after 3 p.m. Tuesday, emergency personnel responded to Chico State after an initial report of a student trapped underneath a tree in the area between Butte and Lassen Halls. According to Joe Wills, Director of Public Affairs at Chico State, Lor was sitting underneath the tree when the 14” diameter limb fell on her head. Lor was found unconscious and was taken to Enloe Medical Center for severe head trauma. She subsequently passed away later that evening.

Lor was a second year student who formerly attended Marsh Junior High School and Chico High School. She entered Chico State’s Educational Opportunity Program in the fall 2012 as a health science major. She is survived by a family of eight whom she lived with at home while attending Chico State as well as other family members in the area. She is the second youngest of three daughters and fourth youngest in her family overall. She has an older brother who attends Chico State and an older sister currently attending Fresno State majoring in nursing.

A donation account has been established at the Bank of America. Those interested in donating can contact either the downtown Chico branch or Cohasset branch and ask to donate to the Pa Houa Memorial Account.
