Our latest Subway Scholar Athlete of the Week hails from Hamilton high and this sophomore track and field star is raising the bar and springing his way past the competition.
For Chris Jaeger, sports are just something he does.
The 3-sport athlete stands out in football, basketball and track and field, but it's on the track where jaeger shines the brightest.
Last Friday, at the Northern Section Championship Meet at West Valley high, Jaeger won the high jump section title by clearing the bar with a jump of six-feet-six-inches.
"When I won, I was like, 'oh my God,' I just won. Maybe it was an uphill battle because I'm a sophomore but I proved myself on the big stage," said Jaeger.
Jaeger's leap was good enough to give him another series of jumps this weekend, as he qualified for the State Championships at Buchanan high in Clovis.
"I feel like going here for the experience will really help me for the upcoming years, the sky is the limit," said Jaeger.
His determination and drive isn't just limited to athletics, as he's also a stand-out in the classroom with a 3.4 GPA. I need to have good grades in order to participate in athletics," said Jaeger.
As you can tell, Chris Jaeger is well-rounded and he likes to aim high. When a challenge comes his way he rises up, both on the track and in the classroom.
